The Lady Behind the Lense

We like honesty around here, so let's begin with that! I do not have any formal training in photography, nor do I have years of professional experience that many reputable photographers have (yet). I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Elementary Education. But alas, my creative soul begged me to follow my heart in a completely different direction because let's be real, the heart wants what it wants.

When I got my first DSLR camera ten years ago, it was my companion that went everywhere with me. I fell in love with capturing genuine, happy moments shared between the people I have been lucky enough to surround myself with over the years. When I look back on the thousands of photos I have taken since getting that camera, the memories come flooding back - the smiles, the laughs and the feelings felt in those moments in time.

Photography has always been one of those things that lights up my soul, but I never considered it as a career. My decisions going into college were weighed down by the pressures to choose a career that offered benefits, paid time off, and a retirement plan in the works. It took some trial and error to lead me right back to what I have always loved to do most. They say that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life… and I am eager to see where this leap of faith takes me.

I want to document the authentic moments and the ones that shape us. What matters most, is not how perfect your hair looked, but how your happiness shone through your face like sunbeams. Not the framed degree on your wall collecting dust, but the “wow, I did that” moment that fills you with pride and appreciation of all that you are capable of.

My goal is to capture not necessarily the perfectly posed photo, but to capture the feeling of that moment. The silly moments, the happy moments, the awkward moments, the giggly moments, and the joyful phases of life that one might forget about as life goes on. Those little moments with big feelings are the one’s worth remembering. If you are really lucky, you will have at least a few of those moments and smiles frozen in time forever.

I can’t wait to get to know you, you beautiful human!

Let’s find some good lighting, play your favorite songs,
share some laughs, and take some beautiful photos!
